(More customer reviews)This is my first TracTonneau and it was purchased with a TracRac for a 2009 short box Chevrolet Silverado. I traded in a similar 7 year old truck that had a TracRac with an Access Limited Edition tonneau cover which I consider the gold standard of covers, so I am going to compare the two. (You can install and Access cover by reversing the TracRac rails, putting the normally inside T rail on the outside.) I use my truck racks and covers for light building construction and river guiding activities.
Relative to installation, the TracTonneau is the clear winner. It attaches by sliding the tonneau rails onto the TracRac side rails and only takes about 20 minutes even if you have never done it before. An issue with the Access cover was that it was fairly close to the TracRack rails on the front of the body where it is narrower which made it a little difficult to fully roll up the top and Valcro back down over the forward two feet. Neither tonneau requires drilling any holes in the bed.
Relative to quality of materials, they are both excellent with a slight edge given to the Access cover which seems to have a little heavier vinyl material on the bed cover. The Access cover still looked like new after seven years of use on my old truck.
Relative to design, they are very similar, but they each have their pluses and minuses. The TracTonneau pluses are that it installs easily, it integrates very well with the TracRac and operates without interference from it. It also has a slide rail integrated into it, so you do not loose that functionality. The angle of the Valcro attachment is a little shallower so it is easier to push down. The mechanical trigger release is easier to use than the Access pull chord. The biggest minus of the TracTonneau is the poor way the rails seal against the forward end of the body and the tailgate. The manufacturer provides some stick on rubber gasket spacers for the front of the body, and there are seals mounted on the rear of the tonneau rails for the tailgate, but the design is not very functional as far a keeping water out of the body. The tonneau rails channel water into the body of the truck on the forward end, and down the interior sides of the tailgate on the back. My old Access cover directed most of the water out over the ends of the body and kept it reasonably dry. This may prove to not be a big deal as I have a rubber mat in the truck bed and the water that comes in the front of the body seems to readily drain out. I am a little disappointed in this design from TracRac, who's products are usually outstanding. The end flap seals on the TracTonneau cover itself seem to be very functional.
