(More customer reviews)This is the forth Pro.Fit VSM I've purchased over the last 12~13 years (for four different vehicles). This is the first one I've purchased with the ball-end, and the first one I've purchased for use with a GPS unit. In the past I've used their VSMs for cell-phone holders.
I'm using this mount in a 2005 Chevy 2500HD, with a Garmin Nuvi 1490T. Installation took less than a minute (I knew what I was doing) and only required one tool (9/32" socket driver). The fit is perfect, as it always is with thier products. But the reason I'm giving them three stars instead of five is because my GPS unit bounces around like a bobble-head doll. I think the stem could have been much stiffer.
In fairness, my 3/4ton pickup has very stiff suspension, and high tire pressure (90psi) so I'll feel it if I ride over a dime. And, my GPS has a large 5" screen; bigger is generally heavier.
I would still recommend this product, if you have a smooth ride, and a smaller/lighter GPS unit. As for me, I'm returning this product and I'm going to try thier CV-71-99-L model. Like I said, I've been using thier products for a long time and I've always been satisfied.
